DD-WRT vs. TomatoUSB

Hi All,

I have a pretty new Asus RT-N66U. I have installed DD-WRT on it, and I really like the UI. It's great, and port forwarding was a breeze to set up. However, I'm not loving performance... it seems like my wireless performance, especially on the 5ghz line, has dropped a bit. Considering that the whole reason I bought this router was for performance, I'm considering a switch to TomatoUSB. Thoughts? Is it worth it? What do I gain in the switch? What do I lose?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi,
It is always a case of you gain some, lose some. If you need performance, you lose some features. You have to pick and choose what is best for you. Just flashing 3rd party f/w is not like following a fashion trend.

I went to TomatoUSB, and I've noticed that 5ghz seems much more stable. I'm not sure if it's just the placebo effect or not. I need to give it some more time on this firmware version, but I went with the most recent build of shibby.

So profound... And so useful!
