So today I went from my old wireless internet provider (which gave me a static IP) to fiber/PPPOE, which is dynamic. So I want to get DDNS working, but the various instructions I'm finding seem to be missing something.
I'm not concerned with SSL certs (I handle that separately for now).
At Namecheap, I have three "A+DynamicDNSRecord" entries, for '@', "www" and '*'. All I set initially (manually) to my current IP to make sure DNS was working in general.
On the router (BE88U running 3006.102.7, I have the domain and password and everything set, wildcards enabled. What's unclear is what to put in "Host name".
After a while I tweaked a separate router setting, which triggered a reboot, which triggered an IP change. Great opportunity to test.
But back at Namecheap, I see the '@' record indeed updated. But the '*' and 'www' ones did not.
What am I missing. I've read every article I can find, and they all just say "set the host name", but any example I see is only if you want specific subdomains (eg. myhome.mydomain.tld), which I don't want.
