DNSmasq..... Any benefits?

Hi guys,

Could someone explain in reasonable detail, the advantages of using DNSmasq instead of the standard DNS set up?

I have considered setting it up on my ER4, but i'm not sure what 'performance' benefits it would bring to my network & devices.

dnsmasq is used a lot on routers as it provides a package of things, like DNS and DHCP (v4 & v6). It is also very actively developed. Its configuration is also pretty simple and if running on RMerlin you can use a custom file to add additional options not used in the base config file
