Just wondering if i disable my 5g - it should reduce load on my router which in turns make 2.4g faster / stabler?

As stated it wont make 2.4 G faster or more stable. You should consider disabling the 2.4 G band and only use 5 G i have been doing this for a year now and the results are great. Sure a little less signal but thats more then made up for with the non congested 5 G band i am all alone on this band and it shows in performance.

Why not disable 5g and find out for yourself? You never really know until you try. :)

As the others say, it theoretically should make little difference, but reality may say different.

If you disable one of the Wi-Fi bands the only change will be that the router will run cooler by 1-2 degrees.

The wifi chips will run cooler up to 3 degrees difference which is very significant for wifi stability for some. Other than that it has no effect.
