Does N66U handle SMURF DoS by staying Connected ?

My existing wireless router (Netgear WNDR4500) - "Disconnects" from the Internet when I get an occassional (1 time a month) SMURF DoS attack that comes from my ISP side.

Question:
Will an ASUS N66U, AC66u or AC68u handle a SMURF DoS attack better than my netgear WNDR4500 and stay connected or at least automatically Re-Connect after the DoS is over, so that I do not have to manually reboot the router like I have to do now with the netgear wndr4500 ?
