Does switching between operational modes wipe settings, and does repeater mode also send data to secondary router access point if connected via wire?

I have two questions:

1) If I switch from "Wireless router mode / AiMesh Router mode (Default)" to "Repeater Model" , and then back to "Wireless router mode / AiMesh Router mode (Default)" , does this wipe the settings I previously had in the "Wireless router mode / AiMesh Router mode (Default)" prior to having switched to Repeater Mode?

2) At the moment my Asus is primary router in Wireless router mode, and there is a secondary router wired to it which serves as an access point - in repeater mode will the primary asus router also send data to the access point that it is connected to via wire, or does this function cease in repeater mode? MY plan is to use my cell phone's personal hotspot in the asus repeater mode when i switch internet providers - hence the reason for my questions.

Thank you!

1) Generally speaking, no. Theoretically you should be able to switch back and forth. Although it's possible there might be some odd setting that gets reset along the way. As always, make a backup of your current settings before the change. That way it only takes a minute to reload your old config and get back to where you started.

N.B. If you're using third party addon scripts I recommend you disable those (Administration - System > JFFS custom scripts and configs) before switching to repeater mode.

2) Yes that should work. In repeater mode the LAN ports still work as before.

P.S. The above is my experience with the 3004.388 firmware and earlier. I have no personal experience with the 3006.102 firmware so can't say for sure the above still applies.

Thank you so so much for your detailed and thorough answer, and the detail about the JFFS Custom Script as well! I had no idea. Yes I will backup my settings for sure, and restore if needed. Thank you thank you thank you!
