Dual WAN GUI feature request

For Dual WAN page Routing rules, it would be nice to have a 3rd option "Both" in the "WAN Unit" select box as:

1. Primary WAN
2. Secondary WAN
3. Both

So one can select both without deleting the option to be able to use the load balance option for that device.

Also being able to see which device the IP belongs to on that page if static IP is selected for that device would be a great plus.

Maybe you can add all devices which are static mapped to that page with both selected as default.

I really like that you improved updating speed when changing an option and click apply, in latest releases. Thanks a lot for that.

Well for the last few version it does not do that anymore... You now have to wait about 2 minutes for every change.

ASUS provides the dual WAN option, but does not seem to care improving it. I know there might not be lots of Dual Wan users, but it is unfortunate they do not care about the small user base.

Dual WAN work quite ok for me. I use 4G modem for backup/fail over.

Thanks for your input, but that is not my concern at all, please read my post before making my request from ASUS developers obsolete.

I see Asus constantly making changes to the Dual WAN code with every new releases, so I don't think it's accurate to say that they don't care about this feature. Just that they seem to be having difficulties making it work for everyone (for some people it works fine, for others it doesn't).

I assume you already configured everything related to the recently added watchdog settings?

I remember also someone else saying it could take up to 2 minutes for the switch to occur for them.

Hi RMerlin,

I have no problem DualWan functionality... I have 1 Cable 15Mb and 1 DSL 15Mb. So I mainly use load balancing 1:1. But for VOIP, bandwidth and static line requirement for some of the devices, I need only one of the lines. So I need to switch from DSL to Cable, Cable to DSL by Local IPs, but sometimes back to Load balancing.

One of the problem is, there is no "Both" option in GUI Dual WAN page Routing rules, which would make them fall back to Load balancing without deleting the IP from the list. Another problem is any change takes about 2 minutes to complete, which was not the case in the release when I posted the first post in this thread. (2 release before I think)

At least the Both option shouldn't be a problem, it just should ignore that IP as a Routing rule. (Just to make sure that you can only see routing rules after enabling dualwan, not to be confused with other routing options in GUI)

I hope this time I was more clear about my concern(s). And I know it is not a problem about Merlin's releases, Asus makes the DualWan changes.

Thanks and cheers,
