My home network configuration consists of the following:
Two PCs, both with Intel PRO/1000 PT Server Adapter NICs (jumbo frame size set at 9014 from drop-down menu).
A Mac Pro desktop with built-in jumbo frame support.
DrayTek 2920n, which has Jumbo Frames turned on and set to 9022.
Netgear GS108T managed switch with Jumbo Support enabled (frame size can vary from 64 to 9728 bytes, according to manual).
All three computers are connected to the GS108T, which in turn is connected to the 2920n router. Finally, the DrayTek is connected to a SB6120 cable modem.
Does it matter the frame sizes aren't perfectly matched?
In my limited testing, I haven't noticed any slow downs or crashes (blue screens) during the successful transfer of tens of gigabytes of data from one PC to the Mac. Also, Web surfing, 'net downloads, and video streaming (YouTube HD) from the PCs or Mac seem to be happening at normal speeds without any slowdowns or hitches.
Should I stop worrying and relax in the thought that everything's OK?
