Error on drive mount

Occasional Visitor
Hey guys,

As per suggestions, I have recently bought a WD 4TB drive.

Got it yesterday and after formatting it and getting rid of all the junk on it, I have mounted it on the router. As soon as the scanning process was over, I got an error message:
Code:
"Errors have been detected on your hard drive. Remove any damaged files or use a PC to correct system issues."

The scan results log show this:

Code:
...
100.00 percent completed
Failed to calloc 122089120 bytes: Cannot allocate memory
Checking cluster allocation ...
ERROR(12): Failed to setup allocation bitmap: Cannot allocate memory
Syncing device ...

I tried a rescan, router reboot, every time getting the same thing: red ring around the USB3.0 icon and error message.

I safely removed the drive from the router, plugged it into my laptop, and windows opened with a prompt to scan the drive for issues, and so I did. After the scan, there were no issues reported. So I safely removed the drive from my laptop and plugged it back in, just to be sure that there are still no errors, and none came up. I was able to use the drive normally.

Unplugged (safely) from the laptop, plugged it back into the router, and I was back where I started. Same errors in the router UI. Same after rescan and reboot.

Note that the drive seems to be running fine. I have the download master running fine, also have my Plex media there and the server is reading that fine.

It's just the fact that there is this error that bothers the hell out of me.

Any suggestions on why is this happening and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

The router doesn't have enough RAM to run a filesystem check on such a large disk, that's why the check failed.

OK, would this affect in any way the performance of the drive?
Is it possible to remove the error?

No idea, and the error message cannot be removed since it's a hardware limitation (lack of RAM). You will have to plug the disk on a PC to run a filesystem check from there, safely eject it, and plug it back on the router.
