Ethernet cable: which one?

Hi all,

in my new flat I have RJ45 CAT6 running into walls (one per room, each cable going into a storage room)
Now I have to build 10/15 cables maximum 50 cm long to be used between switch and NAS/iMac/AppleTV and so on.
I have 30m af CAT5E cable so I will buy 5e plugs.
I think I will not have any problem by mixing different categories of cables, right?

Thanks
Marco

I haven't had an issue with CAT6 home runs and CAT5e with patch cables. That is how I wired up the downstairs and it's been working great for years. As long as you don't exceed total distance of 100 meters you should be ok.

Good grief, you can buy patch cables for under $2 ready to go, making them is not worth your time.

+1
Unless having good experience with cable handling and good crimper, making good patch cable every time right is big ???, LOL! I have bags of cables in my hell box t all times.
