Ethernet or WiFi?

I have Roku 4K Streaming Stick that gets 866 mbps (GT-AX6000 router, 3' away). I bought Roku Ultra, it has ethernet (10/100; unfortunately not gigabit) and WiFi 6. Should i use ethernet or WiFi for the Ultra? Researching online there are mixed recommendations with about 1/2 of sources saying ethernet (better stability but might run into issues local 4k streaming because capped at ~95 mbps) and 1/2 of sources saying WiFi (better throughput with WiFi 6). I've always heard ethernet is better if possible but i get good throughput on GT-AX6000 (no interference, low number of competing devices).

Everyone's environment is different. Test both methods and use the best for you.

I wired mine and never have to mess with it (switch at media center to wire everything possible). Yours will likely work fine either way, but if you wire it you will never have to mess with it.

Just as an aside, my sky box only has 100Mb it, yet streams 4k (Sky Sports F1 UHD) just fine. Just an initial delay as the stream starts, but viewing is uninterrupted.

Ok thanks, was just trying to get consensus. Always heard/read that wired is best. I will try both for a while and see which is best for my environment like you originally said.

No issues here with streaming but I have not streamed from local storage, if that's what you mean by local.

Yes, other forums have reported running into issues local 4k streaming because ethernet (10/100) capped at ~95 mbps. I use Plex running local streaming. I will test when I get the unit later and comment back.

Fast Ethernet (94Mbps) is enough for compressed 4k stream (<50Mbps).

Not sure if this is still the case but with older Roku devices the remote used the same WIFI band and channel as the Roku. For this reason the Roku did not use DFS channels. My Roku is like this and uses the 2.4 GHz band at 20 MHz bandwidth which is good enough to stream 1080p videos from local storage.
