The router loses WAN IP When I reboot the router from the setup page or turn off the router manually it gives me the setup prompt the initial one, like if the router was new, it does not get the IP from the ISP automatically so I need to go through all the process of configuring the router again, from the WAN connection to the wireless setup that it seems to retain but its terrible because if there is I power loss it will not get the IP Ill have to manually get here and setup the basics, I new with this router it has merlin 25b on it, but I dont recall the problem with 270.24, I just got this router 2 weeks ago merlin firmware is great, please help

do you mean that it forces you to load the quick internet setup? or that the router doesn't connect to the modem and the only way to get internet back is through starting the setup?

I think i have a similar problem:

Whenever my router resets etc I get the message that "WAN Connection: ISP's DHCP did not function properly" in the logs.. but then I just restart the router again and it somehow connects. Does anyone know if there is a renew DHCP lease with the modem button? instead of restarting the router? or any way to solve the issue?

I apologize in advance if this has already been answered in another thread and I missed it.

Just ignore that message and be patient. It simply means your router tried to contact your ISP before it was ready to do so. It will try again afterward, it can take a few minutes to reconnect, depending on how long it takes for your ISP to detect you dropped the previous connection, and allow you to reconnect again. Some ISPs can take up to 5 minutes before allowing you to re-establish a new connection.

I´ll Keep testing today, it´s not like your problem but I noticed that if the time on my device was very different from the actual hour it will boot disconnected when I updated the firmware I saw that the hour changed to december 2010, I had to update manually the NTP and when I booted up it connected, but it forces me to load the quik internet setup like you say, I did not wait mucho to see if it took the IP address from my ISP normally its very quick. I also live in Venezuela and the GMT on the asus is -4 and its actually -4:30 so I have 30m difference from my PC and the router. I will keep you posted if it happens again. This firmware is GREAT its one of the main reasons I bought the router, only issue is the 5ghz band is disappointing the range is poor in my case. Dont want to mess with the 80mw of power...

The 5ghz range will always be shorter than the 2.4ghz btw.

Whenever I reboot my router it says that the WAN is connected and when i log into the router it will even tell me my external ip etc ( and in the network map it says internet status is " connected").. but none of my computers connected to the network are able to gain access to the WAN until i manually go in and turn off the router's connection to the WAN and then reconnect.... Is there a setting or something i can do to fix this issue?
