Factory reset Merlin Firmware - Help Please

hello guys, iam portuguese, sorry my bad english.

I have an asus RT-AC86U, asus stock firmware. I want install merlin firmware, and i know after i install merlin firmware i should do a factory reset, and before install merlin firmware should i do a factory reset??

You only need to factory reset AFTER flashing, although some people also do it beforehand as well (though this is generally considered to be unnecessary).
