Firmware Flash

I admit I prefer a dirty update.However, I wonder how do I save all the settings that I have made in AMTM for Diversion, Skynet, etc. if I decide to re-flash? I heard that the firmware runs better with Clean Flash and that there are fewer jffs problems. can anyone help me which option is better? some say dirty update, some say clean Flash..

Not only a 'clean' flash as you name it but a full 'new' network configuration too if you want the most stable and performant router/network.
