Firmware updates can't be detected for nodes

My WAN DNS is set for ISP. I've also tried google DNS and that did not help. I have missed a few updates for my nodes so I tried a check for firmware updates and got:
The router cannot connect to ASUS server to check for the firmware update. Please download the latest firmware from ASUS Product Support Site and do manually upgrade. Check on FAQ for more instructions.

The DNS works for devices that use the router. I'm running Firmware:388.2_2 and it was also happening with 388.2 and probably before that.

Can anyone think of a reason? Is it working for you?
