Firmware Upgrade and Traffic Monitoring?

I currently have traffic monitoring setup to log to USB device.

When updating to new firmware must I disable the monitoring and then remove the USB or just remove the USB, update and reinsert?

It's not normally necessary to remove the USB device but it can sometimes avoid problems by doing so. Just eject the USB device using the icon at the top right of the router's web interface. Then unplug the USB device, no need to disable monitoring.

Reboot the router and perform the update. After the update has finished and the router has rebooted itself plug the USB device back in.
