Getting a new 105mbps line and need assistance

Nexusflame

New Around Here
So I called up Comcast the other night at around 2am and decided to upgrade from our 20mbps line to a 105 line. I did this because we're just having a lot of issues with lag on our multiple systems. Now, as it stands there's myself, my daughter, and my g/f. 3 computers 1 laptop and none of them are in the same room the modem is in (due to restrictions in the apartment) so we all have to use wireless and not wired. I'm trying to figure out what would be the best wireless router and network cards for each computer (not the laptop).

Right now as it stands both my daughter and g/f stream videos non stop, either on youtube, netflix, or some other stuff. Myself, I'm a gamer and I also do 1080p livestreaming. I know the hardware we have now won't cut it with the new line coming in and we won't be able to take full advantage of it. I'm just looking for recommendations for the type of setup I would need to make the other 2 ladies happy and keep myself sane.

What do you mean by "lag"?
It can be WiFi problems.
It can be a slow host computer on the internet.
Going to 100Mbps is $$$$$$$ and would improve "latency" for heavy duty gamers by just a bit.

The reason to pay $$$ for 100Mbps is transfer speeds for frequent big downloads.

well the issue we were having was when my g/f or my daughter would be streaming any kind of HD video I would have major latency issues. Ping spikes of between 120-400ms delays. This would be even worse when they were both on netflix at the same time making my game play and livestreaming pretty much impossible. I would sometimes reach up to 800ms delays not to mention the fact that if they were both watching movies at the same time they'd occasionally both get buffer delays (though not that often). So yeah with 3 people on a single home network all doing something that requires a fair amount of data this was causing issues. That's why I opted to go from 20mbps to 105

Your WiFi router is probably choking. Best bet is to use an 802.11ac router and your daughter will connect to 2.4 Ghz while you're gaming at 5 Ghz. This way, radios don't travel and slow down since you won't share the same WiFi spectrum as your daughters who're streaming.

already doing that, still have the same issue.

Ok what router do you have now? Also, you mention 3 computers and 1 laptop. Are the computers desktops? If so are they close enough to each other to be wired together? Are all your computers able to use 5Ghz?

Stream the video via wired connection. Or a separate Access Point and SSID for streaming.

Or tell the daughter - don't do that now.

You may also want to look into QoS and/or traffic shaping, to ensure proper packet prioritization is taking place. I'm not saying that alone could let you get away with a 20 meg line for *all* your content consumption needs, but it would sure help to keep low latency preserved, regardless of line speed.
