good modem router?

My Netgear DGN3500 seems to be getting flaky so I need to find a replacement.
I use a lot of port-forwarding and advanced wireless functions. I'd like VLAN or otherwise separated wireless guest access. Dual-band would be great. Gigabit is a must.

Any suggestions on a reliable DSL modem router with a good interface and advanced functions?

Hi Justin. SOHO all-in-ones are a bit of a conundrum when it comes to satisfaction and performance. You could pull a TP-Link or Netgear off the shelf and they may "just work". Or, some parts of either might never work, for your particular topology or needs -- often you can't truly be sure until you buy and try.

Maybe a TP-Link W8980 or the like would be a good replacement, but unless you *really* don't want multiple devices for whatever reason, I'd just buy a wired dsl modem and run it bridged (not very hard to setup). This lets the modem handle the connection (usually more reliably) and the router can do it's job, each exclusive of one another. This way, you'll be free to choose any router you like.

Just a though. :)
