GS30XEPP Support WPA2 Fast Roaming?

I talked to biz techie and he said to enable fast roaming with WPA2 saying the GS30xEPP supports WPA2 Fast Roaming. I could not find this feature in the user guide. Can anyone confirm this is a hidden feature?

As far as I can see the GS305EPP and GS308EPP are switches and therefore have nothing to do with WiFi fast roaming (802.11r).

The WAX214 model if uses only WPA2 then lets the user enable Fast Roaming. Maybe it has its own proprietary roaming in those switches.

My Netgear switches do not roam anywhere. Roamed once in the server racks and still there. ;)

There's no mention of roaming in the GS30xEPP manual (unsurprisingly). The WAX214 manual does describe a roaming setting. Maybe your "biz techie" got confused.

I can't see how a switch would have any impact on wireless authentication - 802.11r is mostly around WPA2-Enterprise where radius credentials need to be forwarded to AP's for roaming purposes.

WPA/WPA2-Personal - handled much differently, where the passphrase is preloaded...

My guess is your "expert" is a bit mis-informed about how roaming works...

802.11r and preferably also 802.11k.

802.11k is useful for meshes - the client station can limit discovery for candidate AP's for handover opportunities...

11r would come after the fact, but as mentioned, mostly for WPA(2)-Enterprise where credentials do need to be updated...
