GT-BE98 Vs Pro model

Hi mate, I've had my GT-BE98 for a few months now too, but I'm on stock ASUS firmware. I'm thinking of flashing Gnuton's firmware but wondering what benefits I'll see over the stock ASUS firmware?

May I ask do you have the GT-BE98 Pro or just the GT-BE98?

I really wish they sold the BE98 (non-Pro) here because trying to import one is more costly than our BE98 Pro...

So If I understand you correctly, you had issues with the GT-BE98 European version not the Pro version right? Are you based in Europe?

I’m in Singapore. So I have the non pro 98 that’s sold by asus here. I did have issues with the first unit I bought but asus did a 1 for 1 replacement and it’s been fine since.

Personally, I would stick with the non-Pro model. 6GHz is great, but only at short range. The 2x 5GHz radios on the non-Pro allow me to run 1 in the upper portion of the non-DFS channel range (80MHz as the lower 80MHz is taken up by other people's routers - no-one uses the upper portion in my area) and another in the DFS portion at 160MHz as there is no-one in my area using that portion of the spectrum either. This easily handles my 1GBit broadband.

My 6GHz band is totally uncongested as no-one else has 6GHz around me, so I run the full-fat 320MHz channel. But, my phone constantly bounces to 5Ghz as the signal is stronger.

I'm my opinion, and it's just my opinion, having 2x 6GHz radios wouldn't work as well for me.

Thank you I appreciate your opinion. I face a problem with that exact point because I have called ASUS and they told me that the Pro version will work fine there is no problem I will face even If it is used in Europe. while on the internet the following information is mentioned:

The Frequencies:
6GHz-1: Operates in the lower band (5.9 - 6.4 GHz) which is fine in Europe. This radio would work.
6GHz-2: Operates in the upper band (6.4 - 7.1 GHz) which is not fine in Europe.
The Firmware Lock: The moment you power up the router in Europe, its firmware detects your regulatory domain. It then issues a command to turn off the radio that operates outside of the approved frequencies.

Asus them self say that this is not correct and that both of the 6GHz will work. Also when I have looked this op I found this:

there is no big difference between Europe en US. But maybe I'm wrong what do you think?

As I understand the firmware is the same global vs USA. (One time I was instructed to install firmware from the global pages and was told this). It is probably safe to say that the Pro version would follow the rules wherever you run it, unless you figure out how to trick it into "thinking" it is located in a different country. (Someone in Israel said they made theirs in the USA, but I don't know how). So unless you also know a way to do so, if only the lower half of 6 GHz is allowed in your region do not be surprised if 6 GHz-2 does not work...

Forgive me, but I don't understand what you mean with tricking it, do you mean tricking the router into believing it is located in the US? and if this is the case doesn't this maybe cause more issues? Also, is it certain that if the router knows the location is not the US that it will shut down the 6Hz-2? keep in mine that the information I provided in regards to the 6Hz-2 is of the internet (AI I think) not Asus. Asus themselves claim and said that it will change it frequency to the European

The US retail price of the Pro version is $699.99 but can be purchased for $629.99, which puts the GT-BE25000 at almost a 50% premium. Since the question is which to get I just wanted to clarify whether 6 GHz-2 works in the EU when it is not legal. Or how one might get it to work there as the person in Israel got it to work over there... If it doesn't work then you're left with effectively a BE19000 router....

I understand what you are saying. It is a waste of money, if one buys the Pro version and it's full capacity is limited due to the restriction of the EU. In regards to the person who claimed he got it to work when I look up the countries Regulations Enabling 6 GHz Wi-Fi I don't see the MHz information. It might be that the MHz over there is the same as that of the US or Canada or other countries that has 5925-7125 MHz Adopted. Which will make the 6Ghz-2 function normally. see here information in regards to countries MHz:

How is gnuton Firmware? is it the same in usages layout etc as that of Merlin?
