Guest Network 1 on 386.2 Beta 3

I've asked previously but not got any real answer, but can anyone confirm the state of Guest Networks on the latest Merlin 386.2 Beta 3?

I am trying to use:
  • Guest Network 1
  • Distributed to all AiMesh Nodes
  • No Intranet Access
I am seeing high latency and some packet loss when I connect to the guest network. See the following 3 sets pings - on my main network, switch to guest, switch back to main

I think most everyone is following the advice to avoid Guest Network #1 until a new Asus GPL is released maybe for 386.3.
 
Thanks, I wasn’t sure whether the 386.42095 GPL was known good or bad. I’ll wait a bit longer then.
 
Just as a point report, I have been using Guest 1 since I bought my RT-AX86U and do not see any issues. Currently on 386.2 beta 3.
 
My 2 x ACX86U's -- with Aimesh as specked in your post #1 - fully functional on Guest Network #1 [2.4ghz only] since 386.2_b3 [but struggled before this latest beta3].
So far so good - and don't have the latency variances you report.
Add-ons per my signature working fine - don't use any TrendMicro stuff.
 
Hhhmm, it’s really a mixed bag then. Maybe the difference is that I’m using a RT-AX88U as my main router. Not sure why that would have an impact though.

If I can get some time with everyone offline, I might try swapping in an AX86U and see if my experience is better.
 
I thought I'd give aimesh a go. Main router is ac86u and node is ac68u. I'm seeing high latency spikes and packet loss, even if I just ping a local device or gateway. Guest network #1 gives me access to local network even though I set it to disable, and for some reason the yazfi redirect to vpn doesn't work on the node (I don't know if anyone else has experienced the same issues)

YazFi doesn't support Aimesh.
 
AC66U_B1 AiMesh root with two AC68U AiMesh nodes one wired one 5GHz setup specifically for guest wifi. Working very well on Asus beta.

Using AX88U, I can confirm I’m getting the same issue
 
I know it’s off topic but the Guest network on my eero pro setup works flawlessly across all three nodes.... just saying :)

I still use my RT-AC86U to provide vpn services to my 2 FireTV 4K devices. No vpn support is the ONLY downside of the eero system for me. Their mesh wifi just works.

getting few issues too on guest 1. If using guest 2 or 3 I do not see an option for Mesh Guest, seems only to be for guest 1?
 
Has been discovered that Guest 2 does not isolate LAN clients from access. Guest 1 does.
This has been reported on Asus 3.0.0.4.386.42095 and Merlin 386.2 firmware for the AX86U.

Yes, Guest 1 is for AiMesh
