Having problems seeing bonjour/mDNS/avahi device through RTAC66U

For some reason, I cannot see my ARM proxy box by its mDNS name (adtrap.local) on devices connected to the RT-AC66U setup as an AP.. but can connect to it by its IP address just fine.. Can also connect to its mDNS name and see it on devices *before* the AC66u on a switch before the AP.. Any suggestions?

Using Asus firmware 3.0.0.4.374.726 on an RT-AC66U

All my macs show via mDNS just fine on my end i have 1 mac connected via wire and the rest are wireless, they all see each other.

I at one time installed avahi on my ac66u, but i have since turned that off, i don't need to make it easy to talk to the router.

Are you using the RT-AC66U as a Access Point or as a Router... This seems to make a difference with how/if it handles mDNS/Bonjour/Avahi

Still think theres not something quite right in the firmware in regards to dealing with Zeroconf over wireless in AP mode...

I have an RT-N66 with an s-ton of bonjour/mDNS activity on it, with the RT-N66 as the AP, and a mix of devices plugged into a downstream switch and even over wireless bridges. What utility on what platform are you using to look at your bonjour services? I've learned through trial and error some are much better than others.

Also you can throw Wireshark on any PC and connect it into your switch and mDNS announcements are one of the few things it will see in totality, because it's multicast.

I was having it act as a router.

working on mDNS / Zeroconf / Bonjour issue

Not overly experienced with mDNS and zeroconfig devices.. But will be throwing wireshark on a pc connected to the pre-AP switch... pinging the device on pcs connected to the AP didn't work via adtrap.local, but pinging it via its assigned DHCP ip worked fine... ditto for the browser(s)... Only wrench is I decided to move from Asus 726 or wtf their current build is for the AC-66U to Merlins Beta 6..Will look for its announces with wireshark... Wouldn't know if it would be auto-highlighted in wiresharks capture though... had a similar problem that I didn't bother resolving connecting a Raspberry Pi via its .local address... Ended up just using the IP for that as well..
