My goal is to setup Home Assistant virtualbox machine to sit on the Asus WRT Merlin 2.4ghz Guest network (I'm assuming the default VID is 501) to isolate from my main network.

I could access the Home Assistant frontend page on the VLAN (192.168.101.2:8123) but not from the main network (192.168.1.x) but Asus WRT is showing the HA virtual machine is still assigned with the main network's IP (192.168.1.x).

Is this a secure setup to isolate the HA virtual machine from my main network?

Setup:
HA virtualbox :
Wired connection
Adapter 1: Internal Network: 501
Assigned ip4 under Asus 2.4ghz guest network's subnet 192.168.101.2

windows virtualbox:
Wired connection
Adapter 1: Internal Network: 501
Assigned ip4 under Asus 2.4ghz guest network's subnet 192.168.101.3
Unable to cmd ping any device on main network 192.168.1.x
But able to ping 192.168.101.2 and also access HA frontend at 192.168.101.2:8123

The concern I'm having is the HA VM is appearing as 192.168.1.4 in my Asus router page. Why? Is the VM still isolated?

I have very basic networking knowledge, still learning. What am I doing wrong here?

Guest #1 2.4 is 501 and Guest #1 5.0 is 502. @drinkingbird is pretty good at sorting out the particulars of the way those are implemented and how to use with ethernet.
