Home network with D-Link DIR-868L and an ADSL modem/router

New Around Here
Hi!

My old Linksys WAG200G router with an ADSL modem has died recently and I want to build a new, faster network at home. Given that there are no 802.11ac routers with an ADSL modem available on the market, I've decided to purchase D-Link DIR-868L and connect it via Ethernet to a standalone ADSL modem.

However, I haven't yet received the new modem, I'm leaving home tomorrow, and I don't want to leave my parents without Internet access. Aside from my broken Linksys WAG200G, I have a Linksys WAG54G2, which has a built-in ADSL modem as well. I tried to connect it via Ethernet to the WAN port on the new D-Link router, disabling DHCP, NAT, and wireless in the Linksys router. However, the Internet connection, which is working on the Linksys, is not shared on the D-Link network.

How do I set up the D-Link router and the Linksys modem/router so that all the routing is done by the D-Link and the Linksys only serves as a modem?

Thanks in advance!

What we want to do is put the WAG54G2 into bridge mode and have the D-Link handle the PPPoE authentication (ie. the username/password login process). This setup will turn the WAG54G2 into a simple DSL modem who's only responsibility is to enable the DSL connection itself, with actual credentialing and internet access handled completely by the D-Link.

First, log into the WAG54G2.
As before, on any and all configs pages, please ensure DHCP, NAT, firewall, and any other filtering rules/features are turned off.
Then under "Setup" > "Basic Setup", next to "Encapsulation:", select "RFC 1483 Bridged" from the dropdown menu.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the blue "Save Settings" button.
The WAG54G2 will likely reboot at this time.
Wait 1-2 minutes and then refresh the WAG54G2's IP in your browser to confirm the settings were applied.

Now, log into the DIR-868L.
First, make sure you have the latest firmware installed, which as of this post is 1.08B07, downloadable here.
If it's the latest, proceed ahead, if not, please download the latest firmware from the link above, then upgrade by going to "Tools" > "Firmware" and uploading the firmware file in the "Firmware Upgrade" section, then waiting for a reboot and confirming the upgrade is complete, with all other desired settings intact.
Go to "Setup" > "Manual Internet Connection Setup" button.
Under the "Internet Connection Type" section, next to "My Internet Connection is :", please choose "PPPoE (Username / Password)" from the dropdown menu.
Moving down the page, make sure to leave the "Advanced DNS Service" checkbox unchecked.
Under the "PPPoE Internet Connection Type :" section, choose the appropriate address mode (most likely "Dynamic IP"), fill in your username (ie user@dslprovider.com) and password fields, choose reconnect mode (most likely "Always On"), and leave the rest of the fields untouched. (You can enter the primary and secondary DNS server IPs of your ISP if you know them, but they should automatically be stored if you leave the fields blank anyways. If not, you can always look up that info and fill in those fields later).
Scrolling back up the top of the page, click "Save Settings". The DIR-868L may reboot at this time. If it does, please allow 1-2 minutes for the interface to come back up and refresh the page to confirm settings.

At this point, you should have an active internet connection, handled by the DIR-868L, using the WAG54G2 as the modem. :)
