hourly switching of duplex speed

Occasional Visitor
hello,
i've tried searching this and didn't find anything that helped.
i have an rt-ax88u running the latest version of merlin. i am not sure when this started, or whether it is normal or weird. i noticed it in the log when i was switching from ovpn to wireguard with protonvpn.
i have a scheduled reboot, once a day. after reboot, every hour, this happens in the log:
May 8 08:01:46 kernel: eth2 (Ext switch port: 1) (Logical Port: 9) (phyId: 9) Link DOWN.
May 8 08:01:49 kernel: eth2 (Ext switch port: 1) (Logical Port: 9) (phyId: 9) Link UP at 1000 mbps full duplex
May 8 08:02:34 kernel: eth2 (Ext switch port: 1) (Logical Port: 9) (phyId: 9) Link DOWN.
May 8 08:02:36 kernel: eth2 (Ext switch port: 1) (Logical Port: 9) (phyId: 9) Link UP at 100 mbps full duplex

this happens every hour through the day, and restarts the sequence when it reboots. you can see that it starts and takes enough time that it advances into the next minute. one hour after it stops, it does it again, hence the slow crawl of an advancing minute.
i had switched from ovpn just because wireguard seems to be the way things are trending, but i can not tell you if this was happening with ovpn or started after i moved to wireguard, or is completely unrelated and is something else. i have gone through the settings and the only thing i found with an hour cycle is the group key rotation interval, in the wireless settings. i tried changing that from 3600 seconds to 7200, but it didn't affect this hourly event.
it doesn't seem to affect the connection, or at least i don't notice anything. i am not terribly concerned because there is no noticeable impact...however if it is not normal for this to happen i would like to try to correct whatever is causing it.
thoughts?
thanks!

What device is plugged into that port? Is it sleeping/waking every hour?
great question! i didn't think to look at that. i was concentrating on the router and not what was plugged into that port.
it's an eufy camera hub. i checked the settings and there isn't anything relating to sleeping or waking.
but that is good enough of a question that i am satisfied that it is not a router issue.
thanks!

Worst case, try replacing the cable temporarily to see if it goes away. Those messages are typical of a poor connection in a lan socket or cable termination.
