How do I make the ethernet connection more stable?

buy the monprice cables - perfectly adequate... beyond that, buy bulk cable, connectors, the tools to make your own, and the sweep equipment to verify they're good out to/past 550 Mhz... which is absurd for what you're doing... I swept monoprice premium bulk cable the first time I ran across it to be sure - it'll do the job... shielded 6? - ok, maybe you need that running close to emi or rf equipment.... in a home I wouldn't bother...

I agree with questioning 'shielded 6' cables for home use.

Except in this case where the quality of the cables is in question already.
