how to change to tomato usb firmware

Hello,
I switched vpn providers to cyberghostvpn and I gather that they have some third party software for the router. I have a Asus RT-AC68W wireless router.
I would like to be able to choose my exit nodes instead of having to reconfigure everything to another exit node. Will tomato usb firmware update work on the RT-AC68W router with no issues. Do yo upgrade the firmware like you do the Merlin firmware. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

My testing with Tomato yielded mixed results, so mileage may vary depending on your needs.
