So to clarify, I was able to achieve ipv6 address assignment to the access point himself in my local network. The address was assigned using partial ipv6 global prefix and the rest was parts of the hardware address. From what I can tell, the only reason it was not receiving an ipv6 address assignment was because it was not enabled.
