I need an ethernet cable for gaming.

I was advised to buy from monoprice. To my surprise there were many different kinds of ethernet cables that I was not aware of. A 100ft white cable should be long enough. My question is what is AWG and does it matter? Should I get shielded and/or twisted pair types?

You have to be specific as to the type of use the cable will see. Is it just draped behind two computer desks? Is it run through walls? Is it stapled to the baseboard?

The type of use and installation matters.

Oh sorry, my fault. It will be hung across a hall close to the ceiling, then go through a window door to my room, Then continue to be wrapped along the wall and ceiling to my computer.
