Injecting route into local table for rule 0

New Around Here
Hi all new to this forum Im using an Asus RT-AX88U on the latest merlin firmware and I am wishing to just reroute only the router IP trafiic 192.168.50.1 via VPN and have the rest of the devices via WAN.

I have performed a bit of research and as I understand this is not possible via the GUI using VPN Director in conjunction with an ovpn client.

I have tried various methods via SSH and it appears to do with the overiding of routing in the local table which is referenced in Rule 0.

Has anyone been able to successully use selective policy routing for just the router address itself or is this not possible, if anyone has had success would you mind sharing your steps, thank you.

Kind Regards

Can you explain some more about what router traffic it is that you're wanting to send over the VPN? 192.168.50.1 is the router's LAN interface, so it's not something that can be routed anywhere.

Hi Colin thanks for the rapid response i am merely experimenting so using linux distros attached to usb sda and wanting them to run under vpn without it impacting the other lan traffic, which incidently runs on separate vpns, its more to with whether this is possible or is it an all or nothing as i can successfully get all traffic including the router ip to run under vpn i just csnnot get selective routing on just the router ip to run under vpn. I hope that makes sense.

Kind Regards

Chris

Sorry, you've lost me. I doubt the router itself is capable of running "linux distros" (in addition to its normal operation). So you probably mean something else. Can you give a specific example?

Sure im using Entware as a sandbox to run dev applications listed at bin.entware.net from a usb mass storage

Kind Regards
