Iomega ix2-200 drives upgrade

New Around Here
Hi everyone

I have a iomega ix2-200 with two 1TB drives (in mirror mode).
As I am reaching its full capacity by now, I was wondering about weather or not to upgrade it and replace the two 1TB with two 2TB new ones.

As anyone ever done this?
If possible, what are the compatible drives?
What problems should I look for in the process?
Can anyone give me some help?

The perfect-straight-forward method would be:
DriveA-1TB off,
DriveA-2TB in,
rebuild array,
DriveB-1TB off,
DriveB-2TB in,
rebuild array, done.

Guessing it won't be that simple, I'm planning on backing-up all the data in a separate location before the procedure.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I think what you propose will work. Just verify that everything is backed up before you start swapping drives. You're on your own with this since Iomega does not support capacity expansion and doesn't have an approved drive list for the device.

I did some searching and it seems people have had success with the power down, replace on drive, let the array rebuild. Power down replace the second drive, let the array rebuild procedure.

If you do happen to have problems with this I found this guide for doing it from scratch:

I have not tried either solution but am very curious how this goes for you as I have an ix2-200 that I would like to upgrade the drives in.
