I have an ASUS RT-AC66U-B1 modem at fixed IP 192.168.0.0.1 connected to my AT&T ADSL modem.
I have a Brother printer attached to one USB port on the RT-66U and it works.
Attached to the RT-AC66U is an old TP_Link modem with a USB drive.
I have that drive mapped as drive R: at \\192.168.0.2\sda1 in WINDOWS 10.
I can copy, move, delete, etc. files on drive R:
This just works, no setup or other software needed.

NOw when I plug a USB drive into the port of the ASUS I see, using Win Exp: RT-AC66U-B1-81C0
There are 4 what appear to be folders;
One is "Browse Folders", the others are "Music", "Pictures", "Video"
Expanding "Browse Folders" I see a folder USBtsh1Tb [ I have a 1TB Toshiba USB drive attached ]

I can NOT copy anything into any of these folders including "USBtsh1Tb.

I configured the USB port as follows:
USB Media server -> Network Place (Samba) Share /Cloud Disk ;; ON Enable Disk ; Device Name "USBTSH1TB"
I can now create folders and move files to and from the USB disk.

Is it possible to map the USB drive on the RT-AC66U ?

For example T: \\192.168.0.2\USBtsh1Tb

Thanks for any info

Yes. Use either the router's device name (USBTSH1TB) or its IP address (192.168.0.1).

P.S. The RT-AC66U-B1 is not a modem, it's a wireless router. I suspect your TP_Link is also not a modem.

Yes, you are correct both are routers.

When mapped as T: the path is T:\New folder ; I entered \\192.168.0.1\USBtsh1Tb to map to T:.
[ It did not work when I tried \\192.168.0.1\Browse Folders\USBtsh1Tb ]

Thanks for your speedy help.

It shows up in Win Exp as shown below:

The device that has "Browse Folders", Music, etc. is the router's Media Server. It's not used for file sharing and can be turned off if you want.
