Everything is working on my end. You might have a bad USB....

Can you ping
Code:
raw.githubusercontent.com
?

Thanks for replies, and yes, @Ripshod I can ping it!

But I can also access network shares located on the USB, and when I healthcheck scan it from the http interface it does not seem to report any errors. But in the terminal I get the sense that it may be the Entware installation that is somehow corrupt.

Is there any way to try to repair things without going nuclear and reformatting the whole thing?

many thanks again for the help!

Have you installed “Download Master” previously? It installs an obsolete version of curl which lacks the correct certificate store to download over https.
Code:
curl -V
ls -l $(which curl)
ls -l /tmp/opt

Try:
Code:
/opt/bin/curl -V
If it is older, run:
Code:
mv /opt/bin/curl /opt/bin/curl.old
Then run amtm again.

thank you so much, @dave14305 , update now seemingly running successfully!

And thanks to all who helped out! Much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏

Ok, it looks like there is some sort of fundamental conflict between Entware and the download manager. I'll try to uninstall it from http

Edit: OK, uninstalled and Entware still showing as not installed. Think I will try to reboot the router and see if it fixes itself, but will do that later on.

That is a no go. While amtm checks during the Entware installation if that Focken useless and outdated Download Manager is installed (and will unceremoniously remove it if chosen) it does not stop users installing it AFTER.
Entware and that piece of s*it CANNOT be installed at the same time.

A reboot *might* solve this after uninstalling DLM. But there are no guaranties this‘ll do.
/end of rant

Tell us what you really think! 🤣

That Riegel and Betelgeuse sit at opposite ends of the Orion constellation and that I‘m looking at them right now towards the southern hemisphere.
Riegel is the blueish star while Betelgeuse has a reddish shine. The latter supergiant is in its last stage of star life and will die in a supernova explosion within the next 100,000 years, likely ending as a black hole. Or must I say a deny hole?
Anyway, with any luck, we might see two suns in the sunset for a while.
And that is the good news for today.

Ha Ha Ha ... love that response and thanks for the laugh. It's been one of those days and that was much needed.

Nothing like Orion’s belt. Visible with just the eye…

no, the reboot did not work, but I have reinstalled entware which recognised the prior installation, and everything seems back to normal.

It is somewhat extraordinary that download manager thing remains as some legacy app when it causes this kind of mayhem!

Again, many thanks to all for the help!

As a reaction to the multiple problems users like you had when installing Download Master when Entware is already installed, I have hit the keyboard today.
My amtm develop version now has a check it runs during booting or when opening amtm.
It will cleanly auto-remove Download Master on the fly if Entware is installed.

The reason why they cannot cohabit on the router is that both claim the /opt path. Hence if Entware is installed and then DLM gets added through the WebUI, the /opt path is now taken over by DLM, making Entware staring into a void.

And that is the reason why I posted the Betelgeuse comment above, becoming a black hole in the timeless near future of the Universe.
