Is it useless to buy a 600Mbps router?

If the bandwidth of your home is only 4M, then you have a 600M router if it is mean that speed of your network can only be limited below 4M?For this 600M router is actually a bit redundant, you just only need to buy a 150M router enough?

It depends on your traffic.

If your internet connection is 4 Mbit/s your clients won't get more than 4 Mbit/s from the internet. But connections between your computers (for example file transfers) will be faster.

So it depends on what your network is used for.

Routing speed affects data going to/from Internet only.

Local Traffic is limited by the router Ethernet physical port speed.

Extra high speed WiFi side of the router is only useful if you frequently transfer huge files between PCs/NASes on your home network via WiFi. Most people don't do that, and/or use wired connections for moving gigabit files among local PCs.

As said above, no need for really high speed WiFi for just web surfing or streaming Netflix, because your service isn't very high speed, and few/no Internet Host Computers will sustain really high speed transfers.
