is ReadyNas NV( original from Infrant) suppose to be this loud?

I bought an Readynv ( original from Infrant) and very loud.

Can anyone tell me if this is suppose to happen or if maybe the fan is dying?

It sound like a small engine that is running out of gas or perhaps a rock tumbler machine.

Please let me know if anyone here has a readynas NV ( not NV+ ) and can confirm how loud your power supply fan is?

Thanks.

I remember that the earliest models of the NV where known to have a noisy cooling fan. Infrant changed the fan they where using due to customer complaints. I think they may have even offered to provider customers a free replacement fan, but don't hold me to that. It's a standard sized fan, don't remember if it's 80mm or 120mm, but you could replace it yourself easily.

I don't recall any issues with power supply fans.

Appears the OP got his answer on the Readynas forum site.

Original NV has a power supply that included a small fan. The NV Rev B and NV+ use a fanless power supply. Your NV Rev A can be upgraded to the fanless power supply.

Chassis fan is 92mm with 3 pin connector. If replacing the chassis fan its important to get a replacement that can move enough air. I don't have the Netgear fan spec off hand but be careful buying any old low noise fan. YOu may not provide enough cooling. Or just purchase the OEM approved fan. Netgear will sell you one or you can also find on Amazon.

Looks like some good answers there. At the time of posting this topic, those answers were not there.
