3.0 AC client , any brand , as long as it is stable .
Thanks
Will the USB AC adapters work OK on a USB extension cable, perhaps a 20 foot cable?
look at power line adapters as your solutionWired Ethernet will not happen until next year at the earliest.

I'm soon to be upgrading WiFi to AC and my hope is the wireless AC will out perform the powerline,
only if the construction materials and environmental conditions locally allow as wireless AC and BHR ( big honking routers ) are not the panacea for all woes
getting that ethernet installed sooner rather than later is your best bet
Yup. agree on the ethernet. Sadly this won't happen until next spring when carpets are to be replaced and I can open up the sub-floor to run cable.
I think the AC is promising if I can just get the antenna a little closer. I have tested download speeds in different locations with a macbook pro retina that has AC and my hope is if I can get the antenna about 10 to 15 feet closer to the router the performance will be good.
the distance and loss in voltage will be the issue , you may be able to overcome this with perhaps a usb 3 hub next to the dwa-199 and powering the 192 from the hub instead of from the comp , not 100% sure this would work but worth a try
