Issues with HTTPS and Enabled DoS Protection

I recently upgraded my Asus firmware to 3.0.0.4.246 and was running thru all my configurations and I see that I can now login via https...the only problem was that when I choose that option I noticed that the UI would freeze up alot and I ended up disabled it. Once I did that and only used http to login it would work fine.....has anyone else experienced this problem? (apologize if this has already been covered)

I also noticed on this version that by default DoS Protection is not enabled....my thoughts are the more protection the better? From googling this question I've found mixed answers on this topic.

What the DDoS protection does is simply throttle the rate at which it will answer packets such as ICMP packets. If someone has the bandwidth to DDoS you, then this protection won't give you much protection as you could still be easily flooded with packets - if your downstream is flooded by a gigabits DDoS attack, not answering back won't help you in any way.

.

Thank you sir.....any insight on the https issue.....

No idea, I don't use it myself. I haven't seen other reports of that issue, so I would check if the issue wouldn't be caused by a security software suite running on your PC, or the browser you are using (try a different browser).

Note that HTTPS requires more CPU power due to encryption, so if you also run things such as torrents on your router, you might have performance issues then.
