Issues with Sonos since the latest update

Came across this thread yesterday and had to write about a similiar problem I have had for the past 6 months with my Sonos speakers (Ikea symfonisk)

I have narrowed down the problem to be a problem for my speakers to correctly reply to a dhcp offer.
I can see the problem in systemlog and even with tcpdump that the speakers correctly sends a DHCPDISCOVER and my router sends a DHCPOFFER but no DHCPREQUEST is ever sent from the speakers.
Instead the speakers resends another DHCPDISCOVER and router another DHCPOFFER in an endless loop. It’s like the offer never reaches the speakers.

My workaround for this problem was to setup a secondary dhcp server on a pc on the network to handle dhcp request for the speakers. It works great now but thats not how I want things to be. I would like the router to handle all dhcp requests offcourse.
And the sonos speakers are the only dhcp clients that have this problem.

Anyway when I came across this thread I tested to disable my two guest networks I have and BAM! The speakers reply to the routers dhcp offer.
This is so strange. There must be some setting somewhere that could fix this.

And by the way I have a BE86U router with guest network pro enabled with one guest network and a iot network. And I also should say that the speakers work fine with dhcp when connected to the iot network it’s only problem with the main network when guestnetworks are enabled.

Thanks for this @Jom76

So wait, are you saying that the speakers are requesting a DHCP address, the router is responding before the Sonos Arc has a chance. The Arc is expecting the Sonos speakers but is getting a offer from the router and can't translate it and then everything goes in an endless loop? So the router is responding before the Sonos has a chance

As an update, I have been working with Asus support HQ in Taiwan since August and we have narrowed it down to the VLAN feature which i activated as part of the guest network pro feature. If you enable guest network pro, even with the Wifi radio off, it kicks the Sonos off the Sonos private network and you loose access to the connected speakers such as the surrounds and sub. If you enable the Guest Network Pro feature in IOT mode with "use same subnet as main network enabled", then everything works as expected. They have now requsted I reach out to Sonos directly, which I am doing.

Reading thru the tread, I got confirmation that it's better to leave SONOS on their own SONOSnet networking - not adding it into my WLAN - never had issues since 10+ years with many (Asus) routers and regular Merlin-FW updates!

That is true but the newer speakers such as ERA300's don't support SONOSnet as they are working to get rid of it, so that isn't an option

I'm not familliar with the Sonos Arc and Eras 300, I don't known how they connect network wise. I have the IKEA Symfonisk speaker lamp, which is a Sonos speaker.
And those speakers connect directly to my wifi and ask for an IP Adress from the DHCP server. I don't think it's a timing issue that's causing the endless loop for me.
I have tried the past months to figure out what's causing the speakers not acccepting the DHCP servers OFFER broadcast.
But when I saw this thread and that
you had problems with sonos speakers with guest network enabled I tried to disable my guest networks. And that resultet in that my DHCP problems went away.
So perhaps we have a common problem here due to the fact that we both have sonos speakers and problem with guest network pro, maybe it's the vlan thing.
But as I said I don't know how Sonos arc and eras 300 connect to wifi, if it's by direct connection or by some bridging. I don't know.
Could be some common issue here I think.
