Hello all! Recently bought an EX 490, and have been trying to get it up and running properly...
I am in the process of transferring over much of my data from my old computer to the server. When it came to transferring my iTunes library, I followed the directions as outlined in an article on mediasmarthome.com : http://www.mediasmarthome.com/article/1 ... rt-Server/
I have about 130ish GB of music files that I am transferring over.
I made sure that iTunes was organizing my current library (on the desktop), then I put in a new address on the EX 490 as the destination for the new iTunes library, and hit 'Consolidate Library.' It began the process, and I let it go overnight. The next morning, Ii checked the server, and only about 15 GB data had been transferred over, and the consolidation process had stopped. I was concerned at that point that if I opened up iTunes on the desktop and hit consolidate library again, it would start over from the beginning, and copy over the entire library, including the 15 gb that had already been transferred (which give me a 15 gb of duplicate data). So instead, I deleted the 15 gb from the music folder on the server, and then began the process again. This time, it completed the consolidation successfully, but when it was done, there was only about 116 GB of music files showing in iTunes, the same amount that is now on the server.
Basically, I think I ended up deleting about 15 gb of music from the new library that is living on the server. Thankfully, I have not deleted the old library that resides on my desktop. Could someone guide me through the steps of fixing this? I tried selecting the old library (desktop one) by pressing shift when I opened iTunes, but it still only now shows about 116 GB of data. But when I check my old music folders (desktop), there is still 130 gb plus.
I would like to somehow get that remaining data onto the new library on the server, but I don't know which of the files in the desktop music folder have been transferred and which have not. To go through each individual file will take many many hours. I have no problem starting over, deleting the music on the ex 490, and starting the consolidate library process again...I just don't know how to get iTunes on my desktop back to that point.
As an aside, since I copied over the iTunes music to the server (3 days ago), the server has been running at 100% CPU utilization. Upon reading many reviews here, I did not install the McAfee software, so that's not the issue. I was able to restart the server once, through the home server console, but generally speaking, the console has showed it to be 100% CPU utilization, even after that restart, and the options on the server console have been fairly unresponsive.
Thoughts? Thanks so much in advance!
