Keep Connect "router rebooter"

Hi. I registered only because I wanted to ask about this device. I'm also interested in buying it.
I have a few questions that maybe those of you who already own it can answer:

I’ve read that many features require a subscription. Which functions need a subscription?
Can you configure it and check its status remotely? Is the configuration done through a web interface or a dedicated app?

I’m interested, but I really don’t like depending on third-party services. Maybe there’s an alternative option?

Thanks and best regards.

EDIT: IGNORE! I improperly responded about my ASUS router!

Where did you read that?

I don't have any "subscription" nor do I even login to the iOS "ASUS Router" app, and I can access and view/control/adjust it locally or remotely, by iPhone, iPad, or Windows/Mac PC. It just works.

Please explain what you mean by "locally or remotely." By remotely, are you saying you can manage the Keep Connect device when you are not connected to your home network?

Yikes Bill I'm sorry--I read ch0wch0w's post having come from another thread about my router--so I was referring (improperly) to my router. Very sorry, I will edit.

I haven't had an outage yet, so the Keep Connect hasn't been tested. Perhaps I will disconnect the cable modem's coax and test that way. I'll post results of that testing some other time.

I'll get one EU version in about 2 weeks and see what it does by triggering ISP line disconnection manually.
