By accident, because I decided to add ntpd.log to syslog-ng/UiScribe, I disovered that ntpd died on me three days ago. I don't understand why. While I searching I fount that the error "kernel reports TIME_ERROR: 0x2041: Clock Unsynchronized" will only occur in panic mode when there's a deviation of 1000ms of larger suddenly, but as you can see, there's no such thing, it's only 0.280 usec off.

As I decided to have my router server as a local NTP-server, and have all NTP-requests being rerouted to the router, I wish there was a way I'd noticed earlier and I can't stand the fact that I can't find the cause. The logfile is to small to browse back ?to the time and date this occured. Any idea how this occured. And is there anyway to be notified if a specific error shows up in (one of) the logfiles?

See https://dpaste.com/AGBEX9LBS for details.

Any clues as to what happened are most welcome.

After you did the UiScribe steps, did you reboot the router, and 15 minutes after it rebooted, did you check that all was working?

As to the 'why'? Without having been there when you did that to your router, it will be hard to find out now, I assume.

No, I wasn't aware I had to? I had syslog-ng.d re-read it's configuration, restarted syslog-ng and as I noticed in UiScribe the last 24 hours where blank I expanded the view to 7 days. That way I discovered the gap of about 3 days, which lead me to assume something went wrong around 3 days ago (around 7 a.m. CEST on wednesday to be exact). After I restarted ntpd and waited for 15 minutes, the graphs where starting to be plotted again, and the logfile has stopped producing new errors, so everything seems to be working fine now.

Trust, but (always) verify. Nothing works (just) because we expect it to. :)
