LACP on RT-AC88u (active) and L2 switch (passive) request/help

I enabled bonding on the RT-AC88u, and enabled two ports on my L2 switch on the same LAG (in LACP mode). Problem is I am reading that the issue is that the LACP on the L2 switch needs to be active, but I do not have the option. Looking at the ASUS forum, a employee of ASUS commented that the AC88u will support active mode in the future (could be months). Is there anything that Merlin the wizard of these routers or anyone can do in the time being to get LACP to be active on the AC88u.
