Linksys BEFSR41 V3 and Asus RT-66U

Hi,
I moved my Asus RT N66U to the attict for better wireless coverage.
I'm using a Linksys EtherFast® Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch (BEFSR41)
To connect my wired devices.
The wireless coverage is great I get a singnal where I never could before.

The issue I'm having is I cannot conect to my Asus rt-66u or my swann security dvr on my PC. It looks like the linksys is using the ip address the Asus had and now the Asus has been assigned a new ip.

Are there any settings in the linksys I can change so that it doesn't use any ip address or do I need to buy another switch?

So this is how I have it wired. Modem>linksys>Asus rt

I hope I explained my situation clearly any help would be much appreciated.

All devices on the networks must have an IP address. The Linksys should be serving DHCP as the central router.

The ASUS should be set to AP mode. Then it will lease an IP address from the Linksys. You can also set a static IP (outside DHCP range) on the ASUS so you always know where to reach it. Or you can set a DHCP reservation on the Linksys.

Ok thank you I will try that.
what if I get a regular gigabit switch something like TRENDnet TEG-S80G Unmanaged 8-Port Gigabit GREENnet Switch.
Will I have to change any settings on that?

I just can't get it to work. I can't find my swann security dvr. will getting an unmanaged switch help?

Go into your router, under the DHCP range change the last octet start and end range to be .100 -.240. Go into your DVR directly and give it an address of say .50 for the last octet, same with all your static devices. For me at home all my printers get static in the .90-.99 range, my replay gets it's own static as do the desktop PC's. If it's fixed it gets static I tend to put my wireless access points from .241 to .253, if it moves it gets dhcp. You need to give that asus a static.
DHCP 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.240

Your router should have a page showing dhcp assignments, it might even have a reserve button to keep the mac address of your choice reserved so it gets the same IP each time.

Thank you for your help.

What I did is I purchased a trendnet teg-s82g switch and connected my network as follows.

modem>wireless router>switch then the rest of my wired devices to my switch.

It's working perfectly I just had to rerun some cables to get it working.

this way i didn't have to play around with any settings to get my swann security dvr working just plug and play.
