New Around Here
Hello

I am looking for a new router since our Belgacom bbox 2 ( http://www.zoobab.com/bbox2, https://web.archive.org/web/20091028222054/http://www.sagemcom.com/index.php?id=1226&L=0) is on the way out.
We live in a relatively large house with concrete and brick walls, for this reason there is currently a tp-link repeater in the network (RE200).

The router will mainly be used for streaming, gaming, downloading and normal web browsing. There are at least 7 devices active in the network not including an IPTV box from cisco (ISB8320-E). It is also currently impossible to place the router in a good place, it is located at the side of the house.

I am currently considering these routers: Asus RT-AC86U, Asus RT-AC68U, Netgear Nighthawk X6s R8000P and Netgear X4s R7800, but since I am a complete novice, I don't know what to look for, all I know is that it needs to be a fast stable router with good coverage. I am also open to other suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Are you using the DSL features of the BBOX2? Will your ISP provide a more recent replacement gateway to replace the BBOX2?

The R7800 gets generally good feedback.

I have taken some pictures of how the bbox is connected, hopefully it can guide you in the right direction when advising me. But to answer your question, yes it is connected using DSL, they have a more recent replacement, but since I don't have good experiences with their hardware, I would like to stay away from it as possible, if that makes sense.

I assume that if I were to go for the r7800 I would have to get an rj11 to rj45 adapter or cable, am I correct in this, and if I am correct, what do I have to look for to get the right cable or adapter?
