Looking for Cable Modem with VoIP (Charter)

LordHog

New Around Here
Hello,

I am looking for swap out a cable modem with VoIP that my parents signed up for. They currently have a n Arris TM602A/110. I have search both Amazon and Newegg for "Cable Modem VoIP", but very few items come up and mixed with regular cable modems. Can anyone recommend an cable modems with VoIP that would work with Charter?

Thanks and regards,
Mark

Any cable modem should be able to work with VoIP. VoIP uses an existing internet connection to make and receive phone calls. In this case the cable modem is providing the internet connection. In the link you provided the bottom example of a phone (VoIP) to phone is how most people implement services like Vonage. So you would have Cable Modem <---> Router <---> VoIP box <---> Telephone. The router allows for the internet connection from the cable modem to be shared with the VoIP box and other computers/devices in the home.

Hope that helps.

I tried 4 different VoIP providers. None met the near wireline equivalency approval by non-geek users. Quality, reliability, lack of quirks.

I paid a bit more, but far less than Ma Bell was charging, for bundled digital phone + Internet + TV from Time Warner. Phone has been as good or better than AT&T. It's because cable companies' digital phone does not use the Internet for backhaul.
