Merlin can we???

Merlin can we assume that the new rt-ac68u will be based on the SDK6 driver and will be plagued by many of the same problems that the current models are facing due to this driver? Just asking before I lay down my hard earned cash and become part of the Asus research and development team after the fact! :)

That is a really good question you are asking : I myself have been waiting for the new Broadcom driver to fix the problem with the 5 GHz signal strength drops and afterr more than 6 months and no new progress about the issue , just that some users have this problem and others not. I got problems with the unit AC66U with sudden reboots and after testing both Asus and Merlins f/w with the same results - sudden reboots I talked with Asus support and was informed to RMA the unit at the place where I bought it. I got a pleasant surprise when I went back to the store today to RMA the unit _ I was offered the money back after more than 1 year after I bought it so now I am wondering what to do with my money : wait for the AC68U and hope Asus has solved the problems or consider another brand of AC-router ?
I can use my 2 back-up routers , 1 TP-Link WDR-4300 or an Asus RT-N66U with Tomato USB Shibby f/w while I wait for the people with money to burn who buys the AC68U to see how the router works for them .....

SDK5.100 is old and obsolete. The 802.11ac chipsets aren't even supported by it.

SDK 6 is working fine with my RT-AC66U. The recent issues on the RT-N66U were specific to that model, probably because the router wasn't originally designed for that SDK. Last night when I put my N66 and AC66 one next to another, the AC66U signal was definitely much stronger than the N66U, and both were using the exact same driver.
