First of all, I must thank you very much for help on my earlier threads.

I am going to replace my old router at my summer cottage and intend to setup this new router at home with everything, but asuscomm.com. Because I think it must be done on place catching the extern ip.No.

Because I must leave to another person to do it, I must ensure me that I give the correct instructions.

Can I use the old asuscomm.com or must I registrer a new one and if must a new one be registered from my summer cottage (on place)?
I am aware of the need of export new client1.ovpn. (and client2.ovpn) which also must be done on place.

Is there anything else I must do on place? (I use OpenVPN).

You can use the old now. Deregister it on your old router, then register it on the new router. When the router gets to your summer cottage it will pick up the new IP address when it starts up. The issue with this free service is that sometimes the time to live might be longer than you expected. So I generally set the force update to 1 or 2 days and wait it out as my application does not warrant a paid DDNS.

On the topic of Openvpn - Pretty sure that when you use a DDNS and subsequently export an OVPN file that they insert the DDNS in place of the IP address that would have been there before. If you want proof that happened then try notepad to see the file.

Thank you very much, eastavin.
Talking about deregister, would it be OK to just close down and remove the old router and replace it with the new one - with the old asuscomm.com name?

I am not sure where deregister should be done.

I am not sure where deregister should be done.
The following Asus Support document details how to remove a registered DDNS name from an Asus router:
[ASUS DDNS] How do I remove the registered DDNS name from my previous ASUS router?

There should be a "deregister" button displayed on currently supported Asus routers. Example:

Note: The "deregister" option might not be available on Asus EOL routers according to the linked Asus support document on DDNS.

Got it! But as I see the old certificate, I wonder what to do?
1. Just chose a new "Free Certificate..." on the new router?
2. Must it be done after asuscomm has been added on the new router?
3. Using export from the old router must be wrong? Or can I later import it in "Imprt your own....."?
