Moving hard drives to new router. Will they be reformatted?

New Around Here
I'm replacing an RT-N66U with an RT-AC68U. The RT-N66U has AIDisk set up and two hard drives attached. If I transfer those hard drives to the RT-AC68U and set up AIDisk on that router, will I lose all the information on them? Thanks much for the input.

The content will remain there, but you might have to reconfigure your share permissions.

Thanks Merlin!
Another question - is a backup config file from an RT-N66U compatible to an RT-AC68U?
Thanks again.

No! :)

Don't do that ever.

You might want to try john9527's nvram save/restore utility though to transfer your settings or at the very least, have them in a text based file that you can copy and paste from.

Goes without saying - make darn sure you have a backup of those drives before you move them over... shouldn't be an issue, but like RMerlin stated, you'll likely have to reset permissions on the shares..

And no, don't use a backup from one device on the config files for another - just don't do that...
