My wireless radios were mysteriously turned off!?

RT-AX88U Current Version : 384.19_0

Just before going to bed last night at 2am, I noticed my internet was down but thought it was the typical 2am couple minutes ISP maintenance thing. I wake up this morning and discover it was the WIFI that wasn't working. I notice "ENABLE RADIO" was disabled for BOTH 2.4 and 5. How the hell did that happen? I'm the only one who knows the password into router. Is there something else I should look for? It's working since enabling and Apply.

Any mysterious connections showing in the logs? What is the uptime of the router?

Either way, change the username and the router password.

No mysterious connections that I can notice but maybe this isn't where to look. Also, it had been up a month and a half, bought the 88 on November 1st. I rebooted PC, cable box and the 88 before noticing radios were off. Weird that there isn't anything until last night:

Maybe someone hit an external WiFi switch. This will toggle the firmware radio setting.

What do you mean by that... like on the 88 itself or some other device connected to wifi. There is nothing else such as repeaters etc... just my 88, wired PC and a bunch of laptops, ipads, iphones etc...
The 88 is in a corner of my office, awkward to get to and nobody is allowed to touch it, let alone go into my office. LOL

P.S. I saw the internet (what I thought) turn off LIVE. I was the only one awake and about 20 feet away from the 88. Went to bed.

Any chance you left your router *hackable*? For example, allowing remote access to the GUI over the WAN? Using an OpenVPN client w/o the "Inbound Firewall" option enabled?

As it was, didn't have to change anything here. Just the radios so far that I can see, changed.

The only thing I can think of, I guess... is some sniffer hacked my password. I should have looked outside for a strange and unfamiliar car. LOL But I instinctively thought it was just my ISP doing maintenance. It happens routinely and I'm a night owl. LOL
 
I had this exact thing happen about 2 or 3 weeks ago. It was really strange. I was messing with the router, so I thought maybe it got disabled from tightening an antenna or something. I don't think there is any switch to disable the radios on the device (AC88U). Could be some other issue.

Thank you for saving my sanity! :D Yeah, I haven't physically touched my 88 in over a month! We got Gremlins! LOL

Yes, the Wireless on/off Button on both AC88U and AX88U.

You asked 'how?'. I'm just suggesting one way. Feel free to blame the Deep State, defective hardware, wonky firmware, or sniffers and hackers. :)

LOL! Nope... haven’t touched my 88 since install. And the fact I saw it happen ”LIVE", away from the router, is freaking me out! LMAO

Ha - yeah. I created this account just to reply because I thought I was going crazy when it happened to me.
 
There is a button on the front of my RT-AX88U to toggle the wifi on and off. I know because I pressed it by mistake when plugging in a USB drive the orther day. It is black and flush with the front panel so easy to press without realising.
