I just got a n66u router and have been setting everything up today. I connected to my brother mfc-665cw wireless fax/scan/printer. It shows on my network however whenever i try and use it, it shows as being off line. any ideas?
6 days without a response...not sure I can help but will try. First off, locate the printer close to the router. Check to be sure that wireless encryption is off on both devices. Reset router to factory default settings (see instructions). Reboot (power cycle) both printer and router. Are you seeing the printer on the router web interface (192.168.1.1) device list? Does the printer recognize the router? RT-N66U has both 2.4 and 5 GHz radios. Be sure that the one used by the printer is turned on. Are the router and printer using the same wifi channels? This is pretty obvious stuff. My HP6600 all-in-one "just worked" with my router so I know the router is capable...you are likely dealing with some configuration issue that is fixable. Do the simple stuff first (First rule of troubleshooting is to check the power cord)
Hi,
Can you ping the printer? Scan your IP to see printer. You should have driver installed on your PC and laptops where you want to use the printer. This is how I use my Canon wireless printer.
Dumb questuon but I am sure OP set up the security for the printer? I assigned fixed IP to the printer for convenience.
